Manga Signature Adobe Photoshop Tutorial
Outcome:
So let's staaaart! Make a new document (I used 360x120). Find a nice stock and paste it into your sig.
Make some colors adjustments if you want. I made black and white gradient on multiply and a colorbalance layer.
Make a new layer and apply image. Then take out the blur tool and blur everything but the thing you want the focus on. In this case it's the girl.
Then make two new layers. Apply image on the second layer. Then on the first layer brush with a round brush (with scatter and things on) wherever you want. Then select the second layer and go to layer - create clipping mask. Move it around until it looks good.
Then take your stock and paste it into your sig again. You don't need to resize it. Then hit Crtl-U and change the colors. Then this layer to lighten and erase some parts.
Then make a new layer. Apply the image and smudge with a splatter brush at 100%. Set this layer to lighten.
Make a new layer and apply image. Resize it without holding shift. Move it around to a nice spot and erase some parts of it.
Make a black and white gradient map and lower the opacity. Then make a colors balance layer.
Make a new layer and apply image. Then smudge.
Make a new layer and resize it again without holding shift. Place it where looks good and erase some parts of it aswell.
Then make a new layer and apply image. Hit ctrl-U and make some crappy colors. Then apply a few filters to it, like brush strokes etc. Set it to lighten and erase some parts of it.
Make a new layer and brush with a soft brush where you want the light to come from.
On a few layers, brush with a large soft black brush in the corners to create some darkness.
Add a colorsbalance layer.
Increase the strenght of the lighting.
This is optional, it depends on how your sig looks. Make a new layer and apply the image. Then take the burn tool out and burn on a few spots on the girl to make the lighting look more realistic.
Then do that with resizing stock... (as before) twice.
Then on an applied image layer, hit ctrl-U and change the colors. Move it around and erase parts of it.
Increase the lighting again.
Make a new layer and apply image. Just put some filter on it or something. Then displace it. Set it lighten and erase.
Then on an applied image layer. Use the blur tool on some places.
Make a new layer with small round dots here and there.
Add a curves layer.
Make a new layer and apply image. Use the burn tool and burn in the corners and a little around the bottom.
After some final adjustments like colorsbalances, gradients etc. it should look similar to this.
That's it.
